Smooth-eye poacher

The Smooth-eye poacher〔(Common names for ''Xeneretmus leiops'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 (''Xeneretmus leiops'') is a fish in the family Agonidae (poachers).〔(leiops'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by Charles Henry Gilbert in 1915.〔Gilbert, C. H., 1915 (28 Jan.) (1632 ) ''Fishes collected by the United States Fisheries steamer "Albatross" in southern California in 1904.'' Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 48 (no. 2075): 305-380, Pls. 14-22.〕 It is a marine, temperate water-dwelling fish which is known from southern British Columbia, Canada to southern California, USA, in the eastern Pacific Ocean. It dwells at a depth range of 37-399 metres. Males can reach a maximum total length of 24 centimetres.〔
